Hello Psygore,
I refer to the 4MB version of AB3D2.
The 3D-engine freezes when pressing button "J" to Jump.
No movement or shooting is possible anymore.
However, you can press ESC and return to main menu, restart the same
level or load another level. But if you press "J" to jump the
screen freezes again.
I tested your v1.1 WHDinstall both with my real Amiga1200 (Blizzard 1230 IV turbo) and with an Amibian emulation on a Raspberry PI 3B machine.
The 3D-engine will freeze when you try to jump.

By default, J key is used to set joystick control (K for keyboard, M for mouse).
If you set J for jump, you can not moving/shooting with the keyboard.
Try to set another key for jump if you want to play the game with joystick.
